We Are Cardiff gets a sister site … meet We Are Chester!

A lovely post on We Are Chester here from the fab people at our sister site We Are Cardiff – well worth checking out if you are visiting Cardiff in the future. Thanks guys!

We Are Cardiff

Does this look a little bit familiar?

We Are Chester

It should do – it’s our first official sister site, over the border and up north, in Chester!

I met Angela Ferguson, who runs the blog, at a hyperlocal blogger / online journo event up in Wrexham a few months back. She’s a big fan of her hometown Chester, and felt like there wasn’t an online place that pulled together all the nice things that go on there.

This is Angela. Say hello!

Angela Ferguson, We Are Chester

And thus, We Are Chester was born!

Here’s what Angela says about setting up the site:

Musician Jonathan Coley caught live at the Harvest Moon Espresso Bar in Chester Pic: A Ferguson

Bit of an impromptu pre-weekend post here, but we couldn’t let another day pass without mentioning the immense talent that is Chester musician Jonathan Coley.

We just happened to be in the fab Harvest Moon Espresso Bar in Northgate Street today when we heard the voice of an angel singing and playing the guitar from a corner table.

So one quick question later to our lovely interviewee Danielle de la Wonk, open mic night organiser and all round creative writing whizz, and we discovered who this enchanting voice belonged to.

A huge thank you to Danielle and the very welcoming Harvest Moon peeps for introducing us to Jonathan – one of the best musicians in Chester. More from Danielle on her wonderful open mic night soon.

You can find out more about Jonathan’s music – which encompasses folk, soul and blues – via his website. He runs an open mic evening at Telford’s Warehouse and is playing there next on the evening of Sunday 17 May.

Catch him live while you can – this man is going places.
